A new drive-thru restaurant is opening in East Memphis, but don't expect to order any burgers, chicken nuggets, or greasy french fries.

Love Shack is making a wish come true for vegans and vegetarians in Memphis, many of whom have long dreamed about the idea of being able to use a drive-thru that actually caters to their diets.

Green smoothies, fresh juices, vegan soups, fruit and nut bars are among a few nutritious menu items featured at Love Shack. Coffee and espresso drinks will also be served, but there won't be any dairy products. Only almond or soy milk are available for drink orders.

But the restaurant's spokesperson Sarah Stramel said Love Shack isn't just for vegans and vegetarians — it's open to anyone interested in trying a healthy lifestyle.

Aside from owing Love Shack, Chris Conner creates energy drink programs for athletes who are striving to take their careers to the next level.

Mixed Martial Arts fighter Michael Alexander is just one of several Memphis area athletes who is taking advantage of a weekly diet designed by Conner.

He looks forward to trying more specialty drinks served at Love Shack.

"The fresh wheatgrass juice in the fresh smoothies has dramatically ramped up my cardio game. I needed to shed the final ten pounds to make weight, and, this stuff gives me crazy energy, alertness, and I just feel stronger," said Alexander.

Love Shack will be open Monday through Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The official grand opening is set for Thursday, March 7. It will be located at 2886 Walnut Grove Road.
