There is a new place popping up just in time to help shoppers find local Valentine's Day gifts.
Indie Style Market and the Memphis Etsy Team teamed up with Mid-South artists and designers to provide a variety of handmade gift items for the holiday at Chickasaw Crossing Shopping Center.
"With Valentine's Day being the third largest shopping holiday, we just wanted to share the gift of giving flowers, candy, jewelry, and providing the Mid-South the opportunity to give local," said Indie Style Director Tonya Tate.
Tate is also the captain of the Memphis Etsy Team, which is also known as Memphis Melange.
Thursday and Friday was a soft opening for the week long Valentine's Pop-up shop.
"It was very busy, great foot traffic for a Thursday," said Tate.
She has high expectations for the event and said there is something for everyone regardless if your loved one is a sports fan or a candy enthusiast.
The pop-up market was inspired by the success of the Overton Square Holiday pop-up market in December.
On Saturday, the event will be giving away free items every hour.
The event lasts until February 15, and it's open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Indie Style Market's mission is to build a vibrant community of makers producing unique, handmade, clothing and accessories that can’t be found anywhere else in the world.
The organization's next goal is opening a permanent retail studio for local indie designers.
The team was formed in Nov. 2010 with one member and today has more than 230 members from all over the Mid-South. The team includes sewers, painters, knitters, photographers, graphic designers, milliners, furniture makers, jewelers, and more.
Chickasaw Crossing Shopping Center is located at 2873 Poplar Ave.
