NAACP 5K rocks Audubon Park on Saturday | Sports & Recreation

(WMC-TV) - The NAACP Youth Council 5K Run-Walk starts at nine o'clock Saturday morning, May 5, at Audubon Park starting at Goodlett and Park Avenue.

The so-called "Run for Freedom" commemorates the 1954 Brown v. Topeka Board of Education U.S. Supreme Court decision outlawing segregation in public schools.

Youngsters 14 and under can pre-register the NAACP 5K for only $10, members of the Memphis Runners Track Club (MRTC) discounted rate is $15. All other pre-registrants pay $20.

If you wait to register, starting at eight o'clock Saturday morning the price goes up!

Race Day registrants pay $25, but MRTC members still get a deal at $20 and so do youngsters 14 and under. They pay $15.
