Debate team studies space at Pink Palace | Schools
Title (Max 100 Characters)
Student debaters from the Memphis Urban Debate League have a new focus this year: space exploration.
The national high school policy debate topic for 2011-2012 is: Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its exploration and/or development of space beyond the Earth’s mesosphere.
To prepare in Memphis, students will visit the Pink Palace Museum on Central Ave. for an afternoon to watch the Planeterium, Hubble IMAX film and study the Pink Palace exhibits.
This will take place Tuesday, July 12 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Next, students will take part in the Summer Debate Institute that runs from July 18 through July 22.
The Summer Debate Institute is free, and MCS high school students who are interested in debating this fall can register here.
