(WMC-TV) – High school girls can get some real world experience in the engineering field during a pair of special summer programs at the University of Memphis.
There are two sessions of Girls Experiencing Engineering (GEE) left this summer. The June 25 through June 29 session will focus on transportation engineering while the July 9 through July 13 session will focus on biomedical engineering.
GEE “is designed to make them aware of the opportunities they have for careers in science, technology and engineering fields and to instill in them interest in those fields and a sense of confidence about pursuing those careers,” said U of M spokesman.
The GEE program, which began in 2004, offers girls the chance to complete an engineering project and access to professional engineers.
