Headmaster's announcements garner thousands of YouTube views | Schools
Throughout the Mid-South school administrators take to the intercom for the morning announcements every week day, but the wit and wisdom of an independent boys' school headmaster made it out of the classroom last week and onto YouTube.
More than 10,000 people have listened to Memphis University School Headmaster Ellis Haguewood announce that on April 29, 2013 the school lunch menu options included crispitos and mythological fish sticks.
But to the students and school staff, Haugewood's reports serve more than a reminder of what the lunchroom has to offer. School officials say that his morning announcements lay the foundation for the rest of the day.
"He has a terrific radio voice and great sense of timing. He could read the back of a cereal box over the intercom, and we'd hang on every word," said MUS communications director Andrew Payne. "His daily broadcast from the Upper School office serves as a time of reflection, comic relief, and enlightenment."
The MUS communications department wanted to showcase the school and decided to let the headmaster tell it himself. If you're using mobile, click here to watch.
