U of M honored for online programs

U of M honored for online programs

The University of Memphis online graduate business program is receiving national attention

The program is ranked number nine in the top 10 online graduate business programs for veterans, according to U.S. News and World Report.

The program is certified by the Department of Veterans Affiars.

It also participates in the V.A's Yellow Ribbon Program.

The program helps offset some of the cost of schooling.

Big donation given to Jubilee Catholic Schools

The Blue Streak Scholarship fund and the Hyde foundation are working together to help Jubilee Schools in Memphis.

The fund will present $200,000 to benefit the Jubliee Schools at a reception Monday.

In recognition of Blue Streak's fundraising efforts, the Hyde Foundation has announced it will match the gift.

To date, Blue Streak has awarded nearly $1 million in scholarship money to deserving children.

CBU makes history

May 4th marked a historical moment for The Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program at Christian Brothers University.  31 members of the Class of 2014 were given the traditional student consultative White Coat made possible through the support of  anonymous donors. The inaugural Physical Assistant  White Coat Ceremony was a first for Memphis and marked a rite of passage for the students from didactic classroom and lab instruction to practical clinical training. “This was a monumental event for CBU and the Memphis community which was evidenced by the number of individuals who joined us for the event,” said Dr. Mark Scott, Director of the Physician Assistant Studies Program. “The support of the program by physicians and individuals has been overwhelming and is reflective of the University’s impact on this community.

Just Care Family Network and Memphis City Schools present...A Mental Health & Wellness Fair & Town Hall Building Healthy Minds: It Takes A Village at Colonial Middle School (1370 Colonial Road) from 11am-3pm on Saturday, May 18, 2013.

In celebration of National Children's Mental Health Awareness Month in May, the health fair is a collaborative effort to spread the message of mental wellness and resources in the Memphis community.

Join them for mental health & wellness informational booths, FREE on-site health screenings, entertainment, food, door prizes, & giveaways.

SCBE asks for parents' input

SCBE asks for parents' input

PROACT Search has been retained by the Shelby County Board of Education to help in searching for a new superintendent.

As one of the initial steps, the Board would like the community's input on the characteristics and skills most desired in the next superintendent.

The SCBE will hold a couple of different parent and community input sessions. The locations and dates include:

Students at White Station High School were surprised when they came to school one morning and found the beginnings of an organic garden sprouting behind the cafeteria.

The newest student organization, the Global Awareness Club, has brought the school a big change in the form of a vegetable garden.
