Consumers in credit trouble not seeking counseling

Exploding interest rates, reckless spending, 5-figure debt. For thousands of credit card users, the writing was on the wall.

Now, it appears they're ignoring the writing on their card statements.

Despite federal regulations passed two years ago that require card-issuers to print the toll-free numbers of credit counseling agencies on every credit card statement, the National Foundation for Credit Counseling said its member agencies have only received 150,000 calls generated from credit card statements.

Members of the Germantown Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Mary Elrod with Century 21 Maselle & Associates.  

Mary is a real estate Broker licensed in Tennessee and Mississippi.  She works with buyers and sellers for residential property, commercial property, commercial leasing, and investment property.

Mary also works with a team of four other commercial real estate agents putting buyers and sellers together who want to buy or sell businesses.

Newks coming to East Memphis

Newks coming to East Memphis

A Newk's Express Cafe is being built on Poplar between White Station and South Yates Road in East Memphis. The popular sandwich shop started creating a buzz from the moment the "Coming Soon" sign went up. There are already Newk's in Collierville, Cordova and Southaven, but this will be the first Newk's in the city's core.

The site has been home to other restaurants in the past. It was once a Bennigans, followed by the short lived River City Grill.

Girl Scouts move headquarters to White Station

Girl Scouts Heart of the South is relocating its headquarters to 717 White Station by year’s end. 

Girl Scouts Heart of the South purchased three units in the condominium building in a deal that closed Nov. 5. The building sits on 2.4 acres on the west side of White Station Road north of Poplar Avenue.

The decision was made to relocate Girl Scout headquarters several years ago by the council board. The board determined that a move would be in the best interest of the entire council and the girls being served.

Saint Francis Hospital - Bartlett breaks ground on 96 bed expansion

Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett looks to the future with a groundbreaking for the hospital’s facility expansion.   The $34 million dollar project will result in 96 additional hospital beds for Bartlett and the surrounding area.  

The expansion will allow Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett to double their current total of ICU beds and surgical suites.  In addition, ancillary services such as pharmacy and laboratory will be relocated and expanded.  Finally, with the addition of more than 83,000 square feet, Saint Francis-Bartlett will have space available to expand service lines to serve the growing needs of the community.

Wolfchase Galleria welcomes new restaurants and stores

MEMPHIS, TN – Wolfchase Galleria announced today the arrival of one restaurant and four new retailers for 2010: aerie, Brow Art 23, Charming Charlie, The Happy Mexican Restaurant & Cantina and Teavana.
