(WMC-TV) - The state government has approved more than half a million dollars to improve transportation near the University of Memphis.
One of the hallmarks of the Walker Avenue Streetscape project will be the addition of bike lanes and the separation of vehicular traffic from pedestrians.
Workers will also add new landscaping, lights and benches to the area.
The project will start at the intersection of Walker Avenue and Highland Street and continue east to Brister Street.
The nearly $530,000 grant was awarded by the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
