Child rescued from locked SUV | News

MEMPHIS, TN- (WMC-TV) - Emergency crews rescued a child who was locked in an SUV in the 2000 block of Kirby Wednesday.

Chopper 5 was overhead and caught the entire rescue on video.

Crews could be seen working to get the vehicle's doors open as people crowded around the vehicle to watch.

The child was finally pulled from the SUV and rushed inside a nearby building.

Action News 5 spoke to the child's mother.

She told us it happened when she was picking her daughter up from day care.

The doors on her car lock automatically. When she shut the door, the 23-month-old child was accidentally locked inside the car.

The woman contacted police and says she never left the car.

She told us her daughter was not hurt.
