January 21, 2013 is your chance to honor and celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by giving back to Shelby Farms Park.

Each year on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Americans across the country come together to serve neighbors and their communities.

The MLK Day of Service is a part of “United We Serve,” the President’s national call to service for Americans from all walks of life to work together to make an impact in their communities.

Volunteers will meet at the Visitor Center at Shelby Farms from 4:55 PM to 5:55 PM.

If you would like to volunteer, be sure to bring work gloves and clothes, water, comfortable shoes and a willingness to serve.

Sunday , University of Memphis students walked across the stage and into the post college world.  A total of 1,669 students earned a degree this semester,

As usual, there were two ceremonies Sunday. One was held at 1 p.m., and the second was held at 5 p.m.

The speaker was Dr. G. Scott Morris, founder and Executive Director of the Church Health Center in Memphis, TN. 

The city of Germantown has announced the winners of the Germantown Beautification Commission’s 2012 holiday lighting contest. Commission members traveled the city, judging residential and business locations to make their selections for this year’s winners.
