Jewish community celebrates largest menorah in TN | Events
There was a larger than life Chanukah celebration in Memphis Sunday.
The Chabad Center for Jewish Life created a giant balloon menorah at their annual city-wide Chanukah Family Festival.
And to top it off, literally, Rabbi Levi Klein climbed to the top to kindle the flames on the massive menorah.
"It's a holiday of joy and the idea of the public display of the menorah is carries a message to people of all faith. The message of justice over inequity, the message of light over darkness and right over might," said Klein.
Giant Menorahs were lit around the country to Sunday to celebrate the eighth day Jewish Festival of Lights, this one is the largest in Tennessee.
This event is sponsored by Chabad of Tennessee.
Chabad is a worldwide Jewish educational and outreach organization.
Similar holiday celebrations are sponsored by Chabad in major cities across the globe, including a grandiose Menorah ceremony in New York’s Rockefeller Center and on the White House lawn in Washington D.C
