Memphis zookeeper travels to see wild polar bears | Environment

(WMC-TV) - Gail Karr is traveling to Canada as part of the Polar Bears International Leadership Camp.
She will have the chance to stay at a lodge near Churchill, Manitoba, Canada, which is the polar bear capital of the world.
She will stay October 6 through October 13, during the fall polar bear migration.
Karr is one of 11 zoo and aquarium professionals from the United States and Canada that will be participating in the leadership camp. They will be learning about polar bears and the affect climate change has on the animals.
Karr was selected as a representative from the Memphis Zoo because of her community involvement and past outreach. She is the second zoo keeper from Memphis to be selected for the leadership camp.
