Kroger security apprehends alleged rib thief | Crime

(WMC-TV) - It was a normal Wednesday morning for Sarah Cobb as she made her way into the Kroger grocery store in the Poplar Plaza Shopping Center.

As she walked toward the entrance, a man in a gray hoodie was followed by a Kroger security personnel.

Immediately, the security guard grabbed the man in front of him and pressed his face against the sliding glass doors.  Out of the gray hoodie fell at least five Kroger brand rack of ribs. The security guard handcuffed the man pressed against the sliding doors and took him back inside.

Sarah is not new to witnessing similar incidents at other places in Memphis.

"At first, I laughed thinking about how he thought he was gonna get away with those big boxes. Then later on I felt sad. He must have felt he had to do it. Then, I started thinking about how many people in this recession have had to resort to this to make ends meet," she said.
