Craigslist ad helps police solve burglary | Crime
(WMC-TV) – Trying to make a quick buck off a stolen guitar landed a man behind bars after he broke into an East Memphis restaurant, according to police.
The owner of the Pizza Shack, 4523 Summer Ave., reported that his business was burglarized on June 26.
Investigators say the thief swiped a box of steak, sodas, a power strip, an air conditioner, a bass and a guitar during the break-in.
The owner checked Craigslist and told investigators he found the guitar up for sale. It was listed for $150.
Police and the restaurant’s owner met Blaine Mattison, the man who was trying to sell the guitar, and verified that it was the same one stolen during the Pizza Shack burglary, according to court records.
Mattison told investigators that he had purchased the guitar from a store on Summer Avenue the previous day.
He was arrested and charged with theft and burglary.
