Celebrities come to Memphis to help heal the hood | Community Spirit

(WMC-TV) – With violence being a constant presence in the city, one local organization is using celebrities to help “heal the hood.” The Heal the Hood Foundation of Memphis will host its 5th annual All-Star Celebrity basketball game on June 9.
This nonprofit organization provides educational, cultural, and social economic and community change in the city of Memphis and surrounding areas.
The game will be at Ridgeway High School and will feature R&B recording artist “Tank” and Memphis’ own producer “Drumma Boy” along with other special guests. These guests will also assist with the group’s Operation Save Summer program that will promote health care & wellness in the city.
Tickets can be purchased at Incredible Pizza Hickory Ridge Mall location. Admission is $8 in advance and $10 at the door for children 12 and under and $15 in advance, $17 at the door for adults.
There will also be a free “Healthy Life” prep rally a day before the game at Hickory Ridge Mall on June 8 from 10 a.m. until noon with several guests performances. Parents will also have the opportunity to sign their children up for basketball camp during the rally. Spaces in the camp are first come first serve basis to the first 300 people.
