How late did you sleep in this Saturday? 8 a.m.? 9 a.m.? Noon?
If you are part of the Breakaway St. Jude group, the answer is ... not at all. While most of Memphis is still asleep or sitting down to their first cup of coffee, hundreds of devoted runners are lacing up and stepping out for a long run with friends.
The Breakaway group started five years ago to help the hundreds of people across the Mid-South training for the biggest race in Memphis, the St. Jude Memphis Marathon and Half-Marathon.
When the group first started five years ago there were maybe twenty people participating according to Breakaway Running owner Barry Roberson.
This year, Roberson says there are over 200 people signed up to run with the group.
