Family Dollar to build on East Memphis site | Business

(WMC-TV) - The former Stringer's Garden Center site will soon be home to a player in the discount shopping game, according to The Memphis BUsiness Journal.

The new store will be located very close to the toney Chickasaw Gardens neighborhood, and according to the paper, the company will take that into consideration when the store is built.

Here's what J. Wise Smith, manager of Marketplace Development for the chain, said about the plans, according to The MBJ:

He compares this location to the Family Dollar store he built at Highland Street and Spottswood Avenue near the University of Memphis. That store is in the University Overlay District and he used high-quality brick in its construction. He chose to do the same for the store near Chickasaw Gardens because of its proximity to the high-end neighborhood.
