A Civil War Valentine |
Title (Max 100 Characters)
On February 9, at 2:00 pm, the Shiloh National Military Park is inviting children and parents to a Civil War Valentine's Day program. Superintendent John Bundy and others involved in this event production are excited in presenting this fun filled and educational opportunity for the children in the area. This hour long program will introduce young people to the Valentine's Day traditions that started 151 years ago in this nation.
Children will see historic insight into vintage Valentine's day celebrations, Valentine cards, and how the soldiers celebrated the holiday during the Civil War. In the early 1800's most cards were handmade containing messages of patriotism, love, duty, and loss.
Each child will enjoy constructing a Civil War Valentine Card to give to a special someone. Your child may attend this inaugural Civil War Valentine program by registering with Heather Smedley at 731-689-5696.
