Japanese Festival this weekend

The Memphis Botanic Garden will be hosting its Japanese Festival this weekend.

Here’s the release from the garden:

The fun starts on Friday morning when hundreds of school children from around the Mid-South head to the Garden to learn all things Japanese.

Friday night is grown-up party complete with fresh Sekisui sushi, sake, plum wine, and beer. Take a tour of the Japanese Garden, listen to the beats of Taiko drummers, and enjoy spun sugar creations by Candyman. The Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville will be our special guest. The cost is $35, but if you are a member of Memphis Botanic Garden, you receive a $10 discount on admission.

38th Annual Memphis Pink Palace Crafts Fair
Unique, Handcrafted and Delicious

Memphis, Tennessee (August 30, 2010) -- With farmers markets springing up across the city, and the green movement changing the way we live, it is obvious we are in a hands-on era.  The 38th Annual Pink Palace Crafts Fair brings exactly this to Audubon Park, Thursday through Sunday, October 7-10, 2010.
In a recent Commercial Appeal article, the writer discussed a shift in home décor away from the ornate and perfect towards a more rustic aesthetic, where the pieces are unique and handcrafted.  For shoppers thrilled by this trend, the Crafts Fair is not to be missed.  Drawing artists and craftspeople from the region and beyond, the Crafts Fair offers Memphians treasures not found anywhere else, at any other time.
