3 teens charged for robbery of man answering Craigslist ad

MEMPHIS, TN- (WMC-TV) - Investigators from the Mt. Moriah General Investigations Bureau charged three teen suspects for robbery of a man who answered a Craigslist advertisement.

The victim answered an ad on Craigslist for two iphones, and a pair of Beats by Dre Headphones. The man met the three suspects May 24 at their requested location of Sea Isle Road and Tahiti Lane in East Memphis.

When the victim arrived he was approached by two suspects armed with handguns on both sides of his vehicle. The suspects robbed the man of his cash, credit cards, and iphone.

The stolen phone posted on Craigslist led the investigators to a house on South Perkins

Investigators charged Malik Adams, 15, Danny Williams, 15, and Christian Boyd, 14, with aggravated burglary.

Grizzlies life-sized cutouts reportedly stolen from PDS

MEMPHIS, TN- (WMC-TV) - Presbyterian Day School claims someone stole two of the larger than life wooden cutouts that stand outside on their campus.

The Z-Bo and Grizz cutouts went missing Tuesday.

Art teacher Darla Linerode-Henson supervised nearly 30 people painting the cutouts for eight days.

"We had a sign up sheet. I made everyone sign up. We had everybody from second graders to adults," said Linerode-Henson.

School officials said the stolen cutouts were last seen around 10 p.m. Monday, when the Grizzlies fought to stay in the playoffs.

"When we came in this [Tuesday] morning two of the figures, Grizz and Z-Bo, were missing," said PDS master Lee Burns.

Sandbags and heavy pedestals were supposed to keep them put.

"And we have 24 hour security as well, so we thought they'd be safe," said Burns.

The students who helped make them may be the most disappointed their team is not still together.

Mid-South observes Memorial Day

Hundreds attended a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Memphis National cemetery over the weekend.

(WMC-TV) - The nation honors the men and women of the U.S. Military who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Mid-Southerns placed flags and flowers on more than 42,000 headstones at the Memphis National Cemetery to remember fallen service members.

Hundreds attended a Memorial Day Ceremony at the cemetery over the weekend.

A Mid-South family makes visiting their fallen loved one a holiday tradition.

Katie Allen Carter said her father and uncle served during World War I. Her nephew, Earnest Allen, said his father served during World War II.

"They fulfilled their duties and the fact that they fulfilled their duties is enough in itself to be honored," said Earnest.

For Memorial Day, each headstone gets a flag and a thank you for a job well done.

Memphis mayor raises 'Grit and Grind' flags

Mayor A C Wharton raised grit and grind flags at the tip of Mud Island after announcing May, 24 would be Grizzlies Day.

MEMPHIS, TN- (WMC-TV) - The Memphis mayor said the weekend will be all grit, grind, and shine. While it is mostly about basketball, there are several reasons all eyes are on Memphis this weekend.

Outside the Presbyterian Day School in East Memphis stands larger than life wooden cutouts of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Art teacher Darla Linerode-Henson supervised nearly 30 people painting for eight days.

"We had a sign up sheet. I made everyone sign up. We had everybody from second graders to adults," said Linerode-Henson.

In downtown Memphis, a huge banner on AutoZone's office building shows their the Grizz spirit.

Mayor A C Wharton raised grit and grind flags at the tip of Mud Island after announcing May, 24 would be Grizzlies Day.

He shared plans to shut down streets for a huge viewing party on the FedEx Forum plaza.

That will extend Beale Street's reach.
